Using the nerikomi technique—combining different clays to create patterns—I depicted a whale swimming gracefully through the sea. Since the pattern is formed from the clay itself rather than painted on, the design appears both inside and outside the cup, allowing you to enjoy it as you drink. The cup is sized just right for enjoying a cup of coffee, and I designed it with everyday use in mind. It is finished with a transparent glaze.
